CanSpeak Queensland aims to provide a voice for all people affected by cancer in Queensland. By developing partnerships with cancer patients, survivors, family members and health professionals working in cancer care, CanSpeak Queensland has created a strong network of like-minded individuals. This network is a dynamic forum to share issues, experiences and ideas common to all cancer types.
People who have been diagnosed with cancer bring a unique perspective to health care processes as a result of their own personal experience. As anyone who has been affected by this disease knows, it can be a long and challenging journey. The time, effort and energy it demands cannot begin to be measured.
Advocates, specifically those who participate in cancer and consumer advocacy, come from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. It is not only cancer patients and survivors but also carers, family members, friends, health care professionals, politicians and the community in general. Advocacy therefore means different things to different people and there are many ways to become an advocate.
ANZUP Community Engagement Forum "A little below the belt"
The Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate (ANZUP) Cancer Trials Group invites you to attend our Community Engagement Forum “A little below the belt”. This forum will provide information and the opportunity to discuss the importance of clinical trials and the impact that a diagnosis of a prostate, bladder, kidney or testicular cancer can have on a person and their family. For more information regarding the forum click here.
CanSpeak QLD has launched!
Originally launched as Cancer Voices Qld in 2007, CanSpeak Qld is the prominent consumer advocacy body representing the interests of all Queenslanders whose lives have been affected by cancer. The name change in 2012, at both state and national levels, reflects the organisations' commitment to effectively engage people at a more grassroots level. As an independent network of people, CanSpeak Qld aims to reduce the impact cancer may have on the lives of those diagnosed, family members, friends and carers by advocating on a number of issues relevant to Queenslanders and working effectively with State and Federal Governments, health professionals and the community. Please contact info@canspeakqld.org.au to let us know about the issues that concern you!
